HISTORY OF HWA RANG KWAN

Hwa Rang Kwan began in May 1965 in San Francisco. Rev. Chung Ryul Song gave the name " Hwa Rang Kwan" to a Korean youth group in San Francisco. At the same time, the young master Dong Kie Shin opened a Hwa Rang Kwan dojang in the Miahdong district of Seoul, korea.

HISTORY OF GREAT GRAND MASTER SHIN

In 1971 young Master Shin arrived in San Francisco, and continued his training and teaching in san Francisco Bay Area. In 1996, the hwa Rang Kwan H.Q. was relocated to its current location in redwood city, California, and now has over 50 Hwa Rang Kwan branch dojangs in the world.

Grand Master D.k. Shin has spent over 50 years studying martial arts. He is one of the very few who have achieved the highest rank in both Tae Kwon Do (Kukkiwon,9th Dan) and Hap Ki Do (world hapkido federation, 9th Dan). As a combat instructor, Grand Master Shin was responsible for training the reowned Korean Tiger Division, the green Beret, the Jungle Ranger School in Vietnam, and has trained the U.S. Military for 10 years. All Hwa Rang Kwan instructors are professionals recognized by the World Tae Kwon Do Federation and the World Hap Ki Do federation and has been personally trained by Gand Master Shin. He is an instructor for standford University and a professor of both Seoul Sports university and United Arts College.
